Kona

KONA.jpg  I just received the 2010 Winter newsletter and wanted to take the opportunity to reply with a big thank-you to Bay Path. We adopted our dog Kona from your shelter back in July and are simply crazy about him. He is the perfect addition to our family. Here is a recent head shot taken by a local photographer. I laughed out loud when I saw it as he looks so "regal" - not a word I'd use to describe Kona. He's handsome, smart, charming, energetic and a little crazy - but regal? Not so much..........and that suits us just fine! :)
Thanks again & Best regards, Laura

Maisy (aka Marrisa)

maisy.jpg  I wanted to get in touch and share with you how happy my husband Iain and I are to have adopted a puppy last December from Baypath. Our beagle puppy came from Kentucky and her name was Marissa. We've since renamed her to Maisy. We've had her for two months and she has brought a lot of spunk and activity to our house in the best way. I enjoy taking her for walks when the weather allows and she keeps my husband company while he works from home every day.
Best of all, she provided us with much needed affection and love in January and February as we lost three close family members on both sides of our families. She loves to play with my mother-in-law's poodle, Sammi and we visit frequently so they can get some play time. So, please accept our warm thanks to all those who work with Baypath and bring joy into so many lives.
Warmest Regards, Anne and Iain

Marvin

marvin1.jpg  We thought our friends at Baypath might like to see how he is doing....the first one is the picture we sent out with our family Christmas card this year....the second one is Marvin with our daughter Erica....he is the apple of her eye. We've been practicing our "lessons" from basic obedience and Marvin is doing just great....thanks so much for all of your guidance during those classes....You are such a gifted instructor and patient person (especially with the humans in your classes)....we enjoyed the class so much. Marvin is on his way to becoming quite the gentleman. He has truly enriched our lives....He's a great influence on keeping us healthy....his antics and playfulness are great for a chuckle...and his love of going for walks has helped us to keep off those extra holiday pounds....I would recommend a dog versus a gym membership any day.... Thanks again! more pics below

Shadow

shadow.jpg  Wanted to share with you the wonderful Christmas gift we (including Shadow) got. The day after Christmas we were at a beach on the Cape (some 2 hrs from where we live) and what did we see coming running toward us? Shadow's look-alike - named Smith. We got to talking with the owners and sure enough, the dogs are brothers!  They've been apart for 5 years. Smith's owner later emailed me a photo of Smith, Shadow, and their littermates at 12 weeks old. We've since exchanged some emails about traits and quirks of our dogs and have researched more about their mix of breeds. cont below!

Lucy (aka Pine)

pine-lucy.jpg  Lucy is 3 years old. We got her when she was 8 months from Bay Path (June of 07) and named "Pine". She is affectionate, loving and very mild mannered. She loves our two children and likes to snuggle up next to them when we read bedtime stories. She loves to chew bones, play with sticks, she throws them up in the air herself with her mouth and chases after it. She enjoys walks, car rides, and walking around the doggie park. She lets us know when anyone is near our house, a great protector of her territory. She is as sweet as can be but trespassers do not know that. Lucy hates to be brushed and likes to have time to herself at night.,until the morning when she likes to jump into bed with us. We love our Lucy!

Chloe!! (Chlo-Chlo)

chloe.jpg Ty and I adopted Chloe in the beginning of September. She is a wonderful girl. We have all adjusted to our new life.  She sleeps in, getting up when Ty does. We have a nice backyard for her that is fenced in, but many times she would rather be with us. We love to play with her and cuddle with her. Last weekend she visited all her friends at Bay Path.  We all had a wonderful time.
We will Always have a special place in our heart for Chloe!  She was with us for 18 month before finding her perfect home!

Bella

bella.jpg  It's been about 5 weeks since Bella joined our household and -as stated in her Baypath "resume"- she's been the perfect dog. She immediately made friends with the resident and neighbor cats and has settled into a healthy routine that includes many walks & hikes, and soon, we hope, some great xc-skiing. Her first hike, only a few days after she arrived, was during hunting season, so she had to wear the funky orange vest in the pic, which she didn't mind at all. She was the clear leader of that expedition and wowed everyone with her enthusiasm and energy. Summer will bring more hikes, canoeing and swimming. We can hardly wait! con't below!

Linty

linty2.jpg  Here are some pictures of Lint, now known as "Linty". She is doing marvelous and adjusted very well. Her new best friends are Harry, a 90 pound hound dog that was also adopted at a shelter and Brownie, our 15 yr old cat. They have been known to get into some trouble- this trio loves donuts and has been known to hijack them from the table! Lintys' recovery from her surgery has been fantastic and again, I would like to thank Baypath for their generosity. I would recommend adopting a senior dog to anyone.  con't below!

Bella (aka Annie)

downsized_1017090817.jpg Hello, Attached are 2 pictures of Bella, formerly Annie. We are so grateful to you guys for finding her for us. She loves sleeping in our bed and used the doggie stairs without any prompting to get on and off the bed. She loves her new squeaky toys and Reggie the Corgi is warming up to her. We can't wait for some good weather to take her through Stanley Park. We will be the envy of the neighborhood. We will keep you posted!!!

Toby (aka Billy Bob)

toby_and_toy.jpgDear Baypath,
I was adopted on July 4th this summer. Since then, I've received a new name and I love my new home. This is the first time in my two year life that I've been part of a pack. I've adjusted very well to my new suburbian lifestyle and you should see what I can do now! As the pictures show below, I can drive, watch hockey night in Canada to cheer on my Leafs, and I even graduated at the top of my obedience training class! I will start agility training later this fall. I used to tire out easily after walks, but now I love going outside for long walks. So much so that I'll be doing the Baypath 5K race on November 1st.  story cont and more pics below!

Shadow

shadow.jpgDear Baypath: This is long overdue. Just had to thank you SO MUCH for our beloved doggie - Shadow. My big question: how did you know???? When we came to Baypath, I hadn't even filled out the application, but somehow you knew that Shadow and our family would be a perfect match. You (specifically Tricia and Erin) steered us right to him, and then, well, he worked his own magic on us. He is the perfect dog for our family! Actually, we think he is just the perfect dog. Our neighbors and friends think so too. We keep waiting for the other shoe to drop, but after 3.5 weeks in our family he is still the sweetest canine we've ever met, and he has already brought so much joy to our family.  story con't below!

Dugan (aka Sebastian)

p1010383.jpgHi There, I wanted to let you know that Dugan (a.k.a. Sebastian) has been fitting in great with our small family of myself, my husband, and two cats. It's been almost three months since we have had him and his personality shows more and more everyday and is getting healthier as the days go by. He loves being at home and going to doggie daycare. We've taken him to the beach and after being shown by some dog friends, he's started going into the water. We suspect that he's never seen water before. Being southern fried, we're looking forward to seeing his reaction to snow. Here's a picture of him playing fetch on the beach with his floppy long beagle ears flying behind him. Thanks for bringing us Dugan. So and Steve

Molly

boat.jpg

Hi Baypath,
I just wanted to thank you all for taking me in and allowing me to find my new people. My name is Molly (AKA Button Motors). You allowed me to go to a nice home with Bob and Lucy one beautiful Saturday in October of 2007. I was a little nervous at first, but these people seemed really nice. I met my new neighbors and they told me I had hit the lottery and didn't even know it!
I had a new big brother, Dusty, who showed me the ropes and watched over me until he left me this February to go to Rainbow Bridge. I have a great home to live in, its warm in the winter and cool in the summer. I always have plenty of food and water, tons of toys and a great yard with plenty to smell and explore. My favorite pastime is to take long naps during the day and wait for my people to take me for walks and go down by the water, did I tell you I live on a lake! I love to go for rides in the boat, swim and fish yes fish! I just wanted to tell you all thanks again, if it wasn't for you I wouldn't have this great life, well it is time to take a nap again. Thanks again

Mungo (aka Bubba)

img_0550.jpgHi Everyone,I've attached some pictures of Mungo (Bubba), who we adopted about a week and a half ago. He is doing so incredibly well and seems so happy.  He's a lot more playful than anticipated and we couldn't be happier.  We brought him to the vet yesterday who, like so many others, commented on what a fantastic dog he is, especially considering all that he's been through.  We just love him so much!  We'll be sure to drop off the supplies that we borrowed as soon as we get a chance.

Thanks again,Debbi and Derek

Rosie

summer_09_090.jpgRosie is doing amazing! She loves her training classes and showing off her new skills. Rosie is very smart and takes pride in knowing the ins and outs of our routine. She is also getting over most of her shyness around people, due to the family and friends that adore her. Rosie came to us when we were grieving the loss of our Silky. She has since filled our hearts with a lot of love and happiness.
She loves to play and knows that when I get home I will change my shoes and take her for a walk, so she greets me and heads right for them! At night she cozies up to us and asks for a tummy rub. We have become a happy little family.  We love her to pieces and are so happy that she is here with us.
Thank you! more pics below!

Kirby

kirby.jpg Hello Baypath!

We would like to report that our puppy Kirby, who we adopted from your shelter 2 years ago today, is doing very well.  He was a bit sick when we got him but we nursed him back to health, put him on a raw food diet and even moved to give him his own yard!  He is an amazing boy.  We are so lucky to have him.  Thank you!

Here is your original listing
(Jelly Fish, Baby, Curly-Coated Retriever Mix, Male):

What a difference!
Again, thanks so much for saving him!  We hope all is well at the shelter.

Take Care,

Eli, Rachel & Kirby

Red

red_5.jpgI adopted a 3 month old Staffie last year from baypath, and well I figured it was time for a thank you/ update letter.  We kept her name but shortened it to Red now.  When my staffie of 8 years passed away in March of lung cancer unexpectedly, it was pretty hard to deal with the loss.

I had her since she was a pup and losing her so unexpectedly was rough.  So
around August I decided I wanted to get another Staffie.  I went to
Baypath because you folks were local, and after visiting the website I
fell in love with the litter of puppies that had just arrived from Iowa.
I remember reading their names, Little Miss Muffet, Little Bo Peep, Little
Jack Horn, and Little Red Riding Hood.  I remember my first visit and just
playing with the bunch, how much they reminded me of my previous dog,
Madden.  I remember picking Little Red up and she began licking my face.
That's when I knew she was the one.  After fostering her for about a month
the adoption finally went through and well she has now been the best companion. Red has passed her first obedience test.  I am working with her to eventually take her CGC test in hopes that one day she can be a therapy dog and show people that it's not about the breed it's about the owner and the love
and affection you8 show your dog, the better more disciplined dog they
will be. Nothing can ever replace my Madden, but Red reminds me everyday
of her by always being loving, playful, and goofy at times.  I have read
the letter that was posted by Little Jacks owners (now named Guiness).  I
too would like to see the rest of the littles and maybe have a family
reunion.

Thanks,

Miguel

skip1.jpgTo All My Friends at Baypath, I can't believe it's been 3 years since I was adopted and wanted you to know that I truly am one of your success stories, thank you. I love to go for a "ride" and I go everywhere with my parents in the truck or car. I helped Papa build a new house in Wolfeboro, NH where we sometimes go and I visit Emma, a yorkshire terrier that lives two houses up the street. Mama takes me to see her cause I hear her barking for me in her backyard and I answer her to let her know I'm visiting cause she's so cute and just crazy about me.  Cont. below!

Emma!

emm1.jpgLike the vet said - both Emma and we hit the jackpot. We LOVE her!!!!! She is just perfect (beside the fact that five minutes ago she decided that the grilled salmon on the counter looked just too good to pass up.... our fault, though, shouldn't leave food out accessibly in the open, right????), lovable, loving, SMART!!!!, and the best dog ever! Thanks for all your efforts!
Best regards,
Emma, Annie, Bob & Beate

Jesse (aka Albie)

jes1.jpg
We adopted Jesse on January 12th of this year. He has been such a good boy from day one and we have never seen a dog who loves been around people as much as Jesse does. He adjusted to our family and friends so fast and we love him so much. Jesse loves car rides, long walks and treats. He is a very happy dog and he loves to sleep on our bed and cuddle with us every night.

Riley (aka Bitsy)

ril1.jpg
Just wanted to send an update on Riley (aka Bitsy) who I adopted in April 2009.  For the first two weeks she was really shy and would just follow me around the house and wasn't really interested in playing.  That has completely changed. Riley is a sweet and playful puppy who loves to snuggle and needs lots of attention!  She has tons of energy and her favorite thing to do is to go to the dog park.  Cont. below!

Rocky

rocky_001.jpg  We wanted to let you know how Rocky is doing. Rocky is the first dog our family has ever had. It's a big adjustment, learning how to take care of a dog but we can't imagine a more wonderful dog than Rocky. From day one he was house trained, crate trained, a great walker, well socialized with other dogs, a good eater, had great manners, didn't bark and just made us smile a lot. He even loves going to the vet. Our only problem is everyone who meets him wants to take him home! Whenever we walk him people see him, smile and introduce themselves to him. Wherever we go people pull biscuits from their pockets to feed him. He loves to chew, although he's done no damage to the house except for one TV remote control he confused with a chew toy. Please see the attached pictures. Thanks for all the great work you do and introducing us to Rocky!

Sesame (aka Addie)

2009-06-sesame-b1.jpg  I would like to let you know that Sesame (aka Addie) is doing very well since we adopted her on 5/31 about 1.5 weeks ago from Baypath.  She is playing and following my older dog (12 yr old), Java, everywhere.  It's sometimes a bit too much for Java but he enjoys Sesame's company most of the time.  My daughter and all the neighbors' kids love her.  They often spend a long time in our yard after school patting Sesame.  We are so impressed on how calm, gentle, and sweet she is with all the kids' running and hugging.  story cont. in link below!

Lucky (aka Max Rat)

001.jpg Here is our story about our boy Lucky aka "Max Rat"Lucky found us last August and we have decided he's the best dog on earth.  He has some abandonment issues, severe at first but with time, patience and a lotta love we'll get though it together.  We love the way he wags his little docked tail when he sees us and always gives me a kiss everyday when I get home from work.  At first we didn't think he knew any commands but after doggy training classes he knew them all!
Thank you for bringing our Lucky dog to us.

Huey Duck
huey.jpg Hello,
I just wanted to give you an update on Huey and how he has been since he came to live with us on April 13th.  ....We are so totally happy to have Huey as part of our family.  He is very sweet and playful.  As he grows with our family his personality grows as well.   As you probably know, he was brought to the shelter with his two brothers and the staff there named them Huey Duey and Luey Duck and although we considered changing his name, we loved the story of how he got his name so much, we kept it.)
He's very quirky but we love him to death.  We will keep in touch and surely see you soon. see more pics below!
