madd3.jpg  I adopted Maddie (formely Loretta Swit) on Father’s Day of 2007. When we first got her she was shy, scared, and timid and always had her tail between her legs. She was very afraid of men and anyone that would cower over her. You had to squat to her level in order for her to come to you. She would even pee on the floor if you came too near. She would run away from other dogs and was scared to eat out of her food bowl. She hated to be alone and when she was, she would chew up anything she could find. Needless to say, we had a lot of work to do. ..Con't below!
Over the next few months, I worked with her on becoming more comfortable around people and other dogs. Slowly, she began to open up. I am happy to say that now she loves to play, all she wants to do is play chase!

She is fully house broken. She gets along great with other dogs, she is very passive. She has learned many tricks (sit, stay, heel, down, paw etc..) she even learned a special whistle call. Even our vet has said he wishes all dogs could be as friendly and well behaved as her!

She goes to a doggie daycare one day a week to help her socialize and get out some of her energy. She loves her nightly walks and hiking. We just took her on her first camping trip and she loved it! She still has not gone in the water to swim but I am working on it! I am so happy with her and it brings me joy to see how much she has changed over the past year.

She is a wonderful dog and I get endless compliments from friends and strangers on how cute and well behaved she is.

Thank you all!

Jillian and Maddie
