 Hi-
I just wanted to send you an update on Taffy and Billy.
Billy had 2 wonderful months with us. His lyme disease was cured, he had a bath, and he was on arthritis medication. He was going for longer walks with us, and he put on several pounds. He loved the frozen meat (for dogs) that we added to his dry dog food. He loved
Taffy and they cuddled up together on the couch or on his bed.......
Billy & Taffy cont. below (Note: We can not THANK Paula and her family enough!! For adopting two seniors! They are wonderful adopters who took in wonderful companions. Billy did not have an easy life before coming here, but Paula and her family allowed him to experience love and kindness before his passing. They gave him a gift and we know Billy gave them a gift as well.)
At night, he slept at the foot of our bed even though we really didn't
have enough room for ourselves with him there. During the
afternoons, he would go on my mother's couch with her, put his head
in her lap, sigh, and take a nap. He was a special dog - loving and
well-behaved. It broke our hearts to have to have him put to sleep
almost 2 weeks ago. The bump on his side had grown and he was having
trouble breathing. When he became confused, he had to be put down -
he was full of cancer. He is still sadly missed by all of us, but we
cherish the special time that we were able to spend with him.
Taffy is doing well, although she misses her friend. Her first week
here, she snarled at Billy, as she was intolerant of his constantly
licking her. After the first week, she learned to tolerate the licks
and adored him. She eats well, enjoys her daily walks, and enjoys
cuddling with whomever is home at the moment. With the warmer
weather, she enjoys spending more time outside exploring the fenced
yard. She sleeps on our bed with her head on the pillow and pushes
us into positions so that she can curl up and be comfortable. She is
wonderful with children and enjoys attention from our grandson and
from the children on the street. She has also been bathed, had her
teeth cleaned, and had her ears cleaned while under the anesthesia
for her teeth. She has been on several courses of antibiotics and
we are still putting drops in her ears. She is wonderful company,
and she never lacks for attention. We are going away for a few days,
and my daughter and her family will stay here with her, so that she
does not have to be put in a kennel. Every time they come over, they
ask if they can take her home; of course the answer is no.
Sincerely,
Paula
