It’s always the animals with special needs that are the most loving. They are grateful for love and attention and Trot is no different. Trot has a special story that deserves a happy ending. As a young boy, Trot had a leg amputated after being hit by a car. Shortly thereafter, when his family had a baby, Trot had trouble adjusting. He is now here with us at the shelter and we are making sure to dote on him. Part of that affection is helping him lose weight as Trot is a chunky boy and with only three legs, it is important that he stay healthy. He’s been simulating the Biggest Loser here with daily workouts in the main kennel (when the dogs are outside). He also gets a huge helping of pets and cuddles, which gets his purr machine going. He especially loves a little scratch on the top of the head and lots behind the ears. Trot would do best in a home with no children where he can completely bond with his adopters. He also needs someone who will keep him on a healthy diet and who understands FIV, as he tested positive for this non life-threatening [...]

We post animals in need all the time. So many need homes and love, but Wally particularly deserves a chance. He has been with us since last summer and that is just far too long. For awhile we didn’t know just how to handle him. He would bark and carry on and was very difficult to manage on walks with his jumping, mouthing and barking. We then began to realize just how smart this guy was. He needed way more stimulation than he was getting. We started putting him with other dogs, both male and female, and he had a blast playing. But time after time, his friends would head off to their forever homes. We also started giving him meals in special feeders, which challenged him and enriched his environment. Since he was always wanting to play, he would get incredibly excited at the sight of other dogs on walks and this was difficult for many volunteers to manage; however, once we started working with the clicker and getting him to focus with treats (he loves treats!!), he began making significant progress. And not thanks to a wonderful donation of agility equipment from a local girl scout troop, he [...]

Crayon gets our vote for a cat who is trying hard to adapt to the shelter. After her kitten, Rainbow, got adopted, Crayon had a hard time adjusting. With time and patience from our staff and volunteers, she is making strides, even coming out to rub up against people’s legs. She is still shy and will need someone to give her space to come to them on her terms. But the rewards for that will be monumental as she is incredibly affectionate. If you want a cat who will make you smile at her progress, please come meet Crayon. You’ll be very glad you did.

Due to deregulation, your electric company (e.g. – National Grid or NStar) now allows you to choose your energy supplier. When you choose a specific energy supplier, your current electric company continues to deliver your energy, read your meter, maintain your lines, and provide your billing. The energy supplier provides the electricity to your electric company on your behalf. As part of a new fundraising activity, Viridian Energy has agreed to donate a portion of their billings to Baypath when you select them as your energy supplier. Viridian is a “green company” so the environment benefits too. Good for Baypath. Good for the environment. It takes no more than 10 minutes of your time to select Viridian as your energy supplier. Viridian has a variety of plans to choose from. Depending on which plan you choose, you electricity costs should be similar to what you pay now. Using Viridian’s variable rate plan, you can cancel and move to another energy supplier at any time without penalty. Contact www.viridian.com/baypathhumane for more information.
